Playing
off of Benjamin Franklin's sometimes odd inventions like the musical glass
Armonica, I wondered what Franklin would have created if he had lived in
a southern town like Savannah. Undoubtedly, the Franklin Stove would
not have been invented in such a warm climate, but useful items like the
automatic baptism machine might have been a useful item. Baptist congregations
could conveniently pump water from the river to a set of pipes that evenly
distributes the water over the individual and more efficiently assists
the preacher in his job.
